What are the future plans for BANOFF?

The executive board would like to see BANOFF return to it’s foundation of member socialization and community giving. BANOFF hopes to expand community outreach and service functions in attempts to attract the youth in our community and keep them on a positive path.

We are fulfilling our commitment to engage in community giving, and this holiday season we sought out to assist four families with a gift of $100. The first gift was awarded to a senior couple in Uptown New Orleans. Joe and Lovie Keppard are active community members nominated by the Freret Neighborhood Center after discovering the couple had extensive medical expenses that exceeded their income. BANOFF President, Capt. Roman Nelson and Correspondent Secretary, Firefighter Greg Davis presented the gift at the Keppard home on Thursday, December 22, 2011.

We assist families who have become the unfortunate victims of a fire. In August of this year we provided financial assistance to a New Orleans family who became displaced after a fire destroyed their home. Mrs. Javonda Clark and her children, 15 year old DeJohne, 10 year old Jermaine, and 6 year old Jemari were renting a home that sustained approximately $80,000 of property damage with approximately $30,000 of personal content. Unfortunately the family did not have insurance and they are still displaced; assistance from BANOFF included the purchase of school uniforms for DeJohne who attends Edna Karr High School and a $130 Walmart gift card to assist with the school supplies. Firefighter Dave Watkins, who is a BANOFF member, also personally donated $100 cash to the family.
